Tell us about your vision needs and discuss your options with a specialist.

If your nearsightedness or farsightedness is too severe for LASIK or PRK / ASA, you may be the perfect candidate for Phakic intraocular lens (IOL) implants. A Phakic IOL is an implantable contact lens that is placed inside your eye without removing the natural lens. The exceptional power capabilities of these lenses could allow you to enjoy life without glasses or contacts for the first time in years. The surgery only takes a half-hour or less. And unlike laser vision correction surgeries that permanently change your vision, it is possible to surgically remove Phakic IOLs if necessary.

Meet with the doctors at Eye Surgical Associates to discuss your vision needs and whether Phakic IOLs are right for you. With 70 years of combined surgical experience, our doctors use the most advanced technology and ensure your complete comfort throughout the process.

About the Surgery

During Phakic IOL surgery, the surgeon makes a microscopic incision in the eye and inserts a thin plastic intraocular lens that looks like a standard contact lens. The surgery takes about 15 to 30 minutes per eye, but each eye must be treated during a separate visit. An eye shield must be worn for a short period of time following the operation, allowing the incision to heal on its own.
