The Eye Surgical Associates team includes some of the most qualified and experienced vision professionals in the field. Our ophthalmologists, LASIK specialists, corneal specialist, ophthalmic assistants and technicians work together to provide quality service and personalized care for all of your needs. Most have been with the practice for years.

StaffProfessional development is a top priority to ensure that every staff member maintains their skills and knows all the latest ophthalmic guidelines. For example, all of our technicians are either Certified Ophthalmic Assistants, Certified Ophthalmic Technicians or are in the process of obtaining a designation. Continuing education is required for upkeep of their designations and to meet our internal standards.

American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certified Opticians

Like our clinical staff, our optical department offers only the most experienced and highly trained individuals. Certification through ABO ensures that our employees are well educated and highly trained. Employees must maintain certification by completing the required continuing education hours.

Business Office

With more than 60 years of experience in billing and insurance applications, our business office associates are well-versed in insurance guidelines and filing requirements. They work with many insurance companies every day to ensure that your claim is handled as thoroughly and efficiently as possible.

Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COAs) and Certified Ophthalmic Technicians (COTs)

At Eye Surgical Associates, we pride ourselves in employing only the best assistants and technicians. We require them to obtain certification if they do not already have it and to maintain it by completing the required continuing education hours. COAs are required to earn 18 continuing education hours every three years, and technicians are required to obtain 27 every three years. Candidates for assistant and technician certification are required to take a written exam given through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. Acquiring and maintaining this certification helps ensure that our employees are trained at the highest level in order to provide our patients with excellent care.

Contact Lens Technicians

Our contact lens technicians are dedicated to finding you the best contact lenses for your individual needs. They are committed to making your visit as efficient as possible. At your appointment they will discuss with you your visual activities and will tailor your fitting to you. Our specialty contact lens program offers daily disposable lenses, lenses that correct astigmatism, bifocal contact lenses and even hybrid gas permeable contacts that correct astigmatism but are as comfortable as soft lenses. We also have exciting new technology for patients who may have thought they could no longer wear contact lenses. During your appointment you will also learn how to properly care for your eyes and contact lenses. Our technicians are happy to take time to discuss in detail your options for surgical correction of your vision problem.
