Unless disease or injury is involved, most
vision problems stem from improper focus in the eye. If light
rays entering the eye through the cornea are not perfectly
focused on the retina, vision is impaired. The Excimer laser
reshapes the cornea to create a more focused image on the
retina.
Glasses and contact lenses do not correct
the basic problem. Rather, they attempt to compensate for
it by bending light rays into proper focus. Excimer laser
procedures reshape the cornea according to an individual's
particular prescription to produce the proper focus without
visual aids.
